Whether it's joining a life enrichment activity, celebrating holidays and special events, visiting the beauty and barber shop, sharing a meal with friends, or simply relaxing outdoors, residents have countless opportunities to stay engaged, connected, and fulfilled. Here, every day is designed to support well-being, independence, and a true sense of belonging in a place residents are proud to call home.
Life Enrichment Activities
The Maples offers a wide variety of activities for all residents. Both large group activities as well as individualized, one-on-one activities are planned for each resident. Activities include off-site outings, music events, special holiday events, games, art/crafts, and concerts. The activities department posts schedules of activities on boards located in each hall. Activities calendars are also available for pickup at our reception desk or at the links on this page.
For family gatherings, private areas are available for use. Please contact the Activities Department 24-hours in advance to reserve space. The Activities Department is operational from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. each day.

Beauty & Barber Shop
Looking and feeling your best is an important part of maintaining confidence, dignity, and overall well-being. At The Maples, residents can enjoy the convenience of on-site beauty and barber services provided by licensed professionals in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Whether it's a fresh haircut, styling appointment, shave, or special occasion service, our salon helps residents continue the personal routines that make them feel like themselves.
Beyond the services themselves, visits to the beauty and barber shop are often a favorite social experience for residents. It's a chance to relax, enjoy conversation, and leave feeling refreshed and renewed. From regular hair care appointments to preparations for holidays, family visits, and special events, our team is committed to helping residents look their best while enjoying an uplifting and personalized experience.
Family, Friends, and Meaningful Connections
At The Maples, we believe staying connected is an important part of a fulfilling life. Residents are encouraged to spend time with visitors, family and friends, whether sharing a meal, celebrating a special occasion, or simply enjoying each other's company. These moments help create comfort, joy, and a true sense of home.
We welcome visitors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and recommend visits between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. when possible. To help maintain a safe environment, facility entrances are secured during evening hours, with staff available through our buzzer system to assist guests. Residents always have the right to choose who they visit with and when, and private gathering spaces are available for larger family visits, celebrations, and special occasions through arrangements with our Life Enrichment team.

Life at The Maples extends far beyond our front doors. Nestled in the heart of beautiful Frankfort, Michigan, residents have opportunities to enjoy the charm, scenery, and community spirit that make Benzie County such a special place to call home. Community outings help residents maintain meaningful connections to the places, traditions, and experiences they have always enjoyed while creating new memories along the way.
Throughout the year, residents may participate in a variety of outings and events, including scenic drives along Lake Michigan, trips to local restaurants, movie outings, community festivals, shopping excursions, and supporting local school athletic events. Whether cheering on a hometown team, enjoying the beauty of Michigan's four seasons, or simply spending an afternoon exploring the community, these experiences promote independence, social connection, and a continued sense of belonging. At The Maples, we believe life should be lived fully, with opportunities to engage, explore, and enjoy all that our wonderful community has to offer.
Adaptive Cycling Program
The Maples Adaptive Cycling Program gives residents the opportunity to experience the freedom, fun and beautiful northern Michigan weather in a safe and supportive environment. Using special designed adaptive bicycles, these rides give our residents the chance to explore new places and encourages physical activity while also promoting emotional health and quality of life.
Every ride is a chance to make new memories and we are proud to offer this wonderful program for our residents to enjoy!
